At our endodontic practice, Rockland Endodontics, our goal is always to try to save the tooth. When you have a serious tooth problem, our two endodontists, Dr. Garry L. Bey and Dr. Monica Juneja, can help save your tooth by treating you for for whatever tooth problem you may have – including a cracked tooth. Our dentist in Pearl River New York uses state-of-the-art equipment and the most modern procedures to ensure the very best results for our patients.

Teeth can be prone to cracking, especially as people age. Teeth are particularly likely to crack if the patient often clenches and grinds his or her teeth. It is also bad for your teeth if you chew on hard substances such as ice. This can cause both cracks and fractures to develop in teeth. Unfortunately, if you have a tooth crack or fracture, it will not show up on an x-ray. If the outer part of the tooth is cracked, when the patient chews this can cause movement of the cracked pieces, and the pulp in the interior of the tooth will become irritated. In time, the damaged tooth will begin to hurt, due to the damaged pulp in the interior. At this point the tooth will need to have a root canal procedure in order to be saved. At our endodontic practice our dentist in Pearl River New York specializes in root canal treatment for cracked teeth. During a root canal treatment, all injured pulp is removed from the tooth and the root canal and tooth are thoroughly cleaned and sealed. Luckily, root canal procedures are effective in saving teeth in over 90% of cases. The sooner a root canal procedure is performed, the more likely it is to be successful. So at the earliest sign of tooth pain, we hope you will contact our dentist so that the cause of your tooth pain can be determined and treated.

For an appointment to see our dentist in Pearl River New York for endodontic care, contact us at the first sign of tooth pain.

West Nyack Endodontist

Teeth Removal in West Nyack

The endodontic specialists at Rockland Endodontics of West Nyack provide root canal therapy with a very high rate of success. Root canals are tiny passageways that branch off from beneath the top of the tooth, coursing their way downward, until they reach the tip of the root. When our West Nyack endodontists remove the diseased tissue, they can halt the spread of infection and restore the healthy portion of the tooth. In fact, root canal therapy is designed to save a problem tooth, when before the only other alternative was extracting a diseased tooth.

Many tooth problems involve infections that spread to the pulp, which is the inner chamber of the tooth containing blood vessels, nerves, and other tissues. When the root canal infection becomes worse, it can begin affecting the roots. A traumatic injury to a tooth can also compromise the pulp, leading to similar problems. A diseased inner tooth brings a host of problems including pain and sensitivity, immediate indications of a problem. On the inside of your tooth, the spreading infection can cause small pockets of pus to develop, which can lead to an abscess. The moment you start to experience pain indicative of a root canal infection, please visit your West Nyack endodontic specialists at Rockland Endodontics immediately.

Root canal therapy usually entails one to three visits to Rockland Endodontics. During your visit, we’ll remove the diseased tissue, cleanse and disinfect the inner chamber and reshape the tiny canals. The cleaned chamber and canals will be filled with an elastic material and medication designed to prevent re-infection. If necessary, the drilled hole will be temporarily filled until a permanent seal is made with a dental crown.

Pearl River Dental Emergency

Pearl River Dental Emergency

No one can predict a sudden toothache or plan for a dental emergency. But when these emergencies occur, you’ll need prompt and skillful treatment, which is provided at Rockland Endodontics in Pearl River. Getting immediate dental care for urgent problems is just as important as scheduling regular and routine check-ups! If you’re experiencing any tooth pain, do not wait to receive dental attention from your Pearl River endodontists at Rockland Endodontics. A thorough oral examination, proper tooth testing and evaluation, along with appropriate dental x-rays, can help determine the cause of your tooth pain.

Toothache Pearl River

Toothache Pearl River

Toothaches are the most common form of dental emergency. The severity of a toothache can range from chronic and mild to sharp and excruciating. It can be a dull ache or intense.  The pain may be aggravated by chewing or by thermal foods and liquids which are cold or hot. There are a few remedies and procedures you can try at home to temporarily reduce the pain until you can receive dental assistance. Check to make sure there are no food particles stuck in your teeth and use care removing them with dental floss, or an angular toothpick.

Dislodged Teeth Injuries to the mouth can cause teeth to be pushed back into their sockets. If the tooth is pushed partially out of the socket, your Rockland endodontists may re-position and stabilize your tooth. If the pulp remains healthy, then no other treatment is necessary. However, if the pulp becomes damaged or infected, root canal treatment will be required. Pearl River Root canal treatment is usually started within a few weeks of the injury and a medication, such as calcium hydroxide, will be placed inside the tooth. Eventually, a permanent root canal filling will be placed and the canal will be sealed.

Avulsed Teeth If an injury causes a tooth to be completely knocked out of your mouth, it is important that you seek treatment immediately! It is important to keep the avulsed tooth moist. If possible, put it back into the socket. A tooth can be saved if it remains moist. You can even put the tooth in milk or a glass of water (add a pinch of salt). Our endodontists may start root canal treatment based upon the stage of root development. The length of time the tooth was out of your mouth and the way the tooth was stored may influence the type of treatment you receive and how successful the outcome.

At Rockland Endodontics, we understand the critical nature of these dental problems, and we’re available and willing to help you if you should experience a traumatic dental injury. Our office is open six days a week with early morning and late evening appointments are available. No matter what the trouble is, we’ll see to it that you’re taken care of, and back to smiling in no time.

Rockland Root Canal Therapy

Rockland Root Canal Therapy

Our endodontists at Rockland Endodontics have performed over 20,000 successful root canals, so you know you’re in the best of hands. With root canal therapy, performed at our Pearl River Endodontic Office, we gently remove the infected or inflamed pulp and then carefully shape and sterilize the inside of the canal with nickel-titanium rotary instruments. The canal is filled and sealed with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. For your comfort, we use virtually silent electric handpieces that work with minimum vibration. In addition, our piezoelectric ultrasonic equipment features diamond-coated tips, the small size of which preserves the tooth’s structure and provides more precise treatment.

We can perform most root canals in a single visit; the more complex cases require a second appointment. Once your root canal therapy has been completed, we will send a written report, along with post-treatment X-ray images, to your referring dentist. You should not chew or bite on the treated tooth until your Rockland endodontist provides you with a permanent restoration. We also perform root canal retreatment, if necessary, thereby avoiding surgical intervention.

Pearl River Endodontic Treatment

When you look at your teeth in the mirror, you see the crown. The remainder of your tooth, the portion beneath the gum line, is the root. The outer portion of the root is a hard tissue called dentin and the inside channel, or root canal is a pulp of soft tissue, blood vessels and nerves. The root canal is responsible for forming the surrounding dentin and enamel during tooth development.

Pearl River Root Canal Therapy is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. This results most commonly from deep cavities called caries, repeated dental procedures, cracks or chips. If pulp inflammation or infection goes untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess. Symptoms of pulp damage include: prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling or tenderness of the tooth, or swelling or tenderness of adjacent gums.
